Cherry Creek schools honored for academic achievement and growth
The Colorado Department of Education recently recognized 14 Cherry Creek School District schools for academic achievement and growth during the 2023-24 school year. Those schools received banners recognizing their accomplishment.
Twelve schools received the John Irwin School of Excellence Award, which was established in 2008 and is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time.

• Cottonwood Creek Elementary
• Creekside Elementary
• Dry Creek Elementary
• Greenwood Elementary
• Homestead Elementary
• Willow Creek Elementary
• Challenge School
• Campus Middle School
• Cherry Creek High School
Schools that receive the John Irwin Award earned an “exceeds expectations” rating on the Academic Achievement indicator of the School Performance Frameworks, reflecting exceptional performance in math, English language arts, and science.
In addition, three schools received the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award, which was established in 2002 and is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth over time.

Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award recipients earned an “exceeds expectations” rating on the Academic Growth indicator of the School Performance Frameworks, reflecting consistently high rates of student growth in English language arts, math, and English language proficiency.
